A MONTH OLD! It is hard to believe~ which means we have been here for 6 weeks now. In a way it seems like we just got here ~ yet it’s like we have always been here! We love these babies – even though we are a half a world apart. I thank Heavenly Father everyday for FaceTime. A little real time would be nice – but….
Cruz and Nash- love to touch when sleeping:)
Aubri and Taylor you are doing AWESOME! They are so cute and (we are sure) lots of work!
Sister Vande Merwe, Sister Dever, Sister Denton, Helping us out to pick-up Elder Meyer
We had a new Elder come in from Germany, Elder Meyer. He is the third one from the left. He was suppose to come in the day before he did. President McSwain and I went to the airport at 6:30 AM – we were there until 9:30 AM – looking for him. Nobody could tell us anything, and we had to wait at the international doors watching to see if he came through. So I watched while Mark went all over looking for him, or to get some info. It was awful, we were so worried about him, he was all alone. Our Office was finally able to get with someone that told us he had missed the flight in London. He came in the next day and we couldn’t be there to pick him up so our wonderful office sisters and these Elders went and got him. BUT HIS LUGGAGE DIDN’T COME WITH HIM. The poor guy- The next day one suitcase came like at 9:00 PM- and as of today he still hasn’t got the second one. He kept telling President ” I wasn’t worried about me~ I was worried about you, not knowing what was going on with me.” Great Elder – and we were so glad he spoke English, really quite well. They had actually cancelled his flight out of London and had to book him on another flight, which made him miss his flight in Singapore to Australia – thus a full two days in airports and on airplanes. We are GLAD he’s finally here.
Elder Pierce, Elder Meyer, US
Elder Meyer we finally meet!
Elder Pierce with his new companion Elder Meyer and we finally got to meet him. We took them out to dinner while we waited for the suitcase to come in and this was what I saw on the street! Haven’t seen one of these forever!! Now I’ll have to watch it to see if anyone ever uses it.
We had another GOLDEN ORIENTATION. What great Elders and Sisters. We had a wonderful time with them and the training was awesome. They had a couple of miracles walking to dinner and GQ ing. They are super!

We got the missionaries where they all needed to be and then we were off to see one last missionary that we still had not met. MOUNT ISA ~ Elder Soakai, we are finally on our way! His companion Elder King was just transferred there so we had already met him. These two missionaries are great. We had take-out Chinese food with them on top of the lookout where we could see the whole city. The city reminded us a lot of Green River WY.
Elder King, President , & Elder Soakia
It really is out in the bush. I was told you don’t drive after dark because the risk of hitting a large male kangaroo is so great, and you or your car usually don’t survive. At the church they were telling me about the huge snakes they have there. They said the closest a snake had come to the church was ~” right there at the door! but never made it in before someone shooed it out!” ***OooHhh***
Church on Sunday was great. Everyone was so nice. After the block everyone wanted to get pictures. We did a YM / YW combined, so the youth wanted to get pictures. They were all awesome youth.
We met some really wonderful people and loved visiting with them. We met Shellie Wilson who loves the missionaries and wants to prepare herself so she can come back to activity in the church. We told her we will help, she can do it. We want to see her back before we leave …in 3 years… think that was giving her too long maybe!?
Then the wonderful Missionaries who work so hard, never see any of the other missionaries and never complain! Elder King and Elder Soakia we love you both!
Back to Brisbane! A busy catch-up week for us. President made me get behind the wheel and drive again. The 2nd time since being here. So its been like 4 weeks in between practice times. You can see the cobwebs on my sideview mirror, it had been so long… We drove around our neighborhood and found this wonderful lookout just a few blocks away. I’m holding the keys to prove I was the driver!!!
To end the week- Mark had a wonderful birthday, we saw some things we hadn’t seen before and were so close~thanks to the Callahans. and the assistants were great! They snuck into our home while we were out and left a great treat and sweet note! The next night we got to go to the Richins for dinner and meet 3 Stake Presidents and their wives that we hadn’t met yet. Good times. God Bless ! we love you!
We thought we had been the busiest we could get ~ then Transfer week hit. Wow! It was awesome. We sent 16 missionaries home ~ 😦 sad, and welcomed 15 new missionaries. So our week went very well. We met our 16 returning missionaries ( 13 Elders & 3 Sisters) at the Temple Monday Morning. The Temple is usually closed on Monday but they do a special session for the special missionaries. The Temple President makes it very nice for them, and gives them some going home advice along with President McSwain. The workers all come in for this special day and they said that everyone wants to come this day ~ so they never have a problem finding help.
OUR RETURNING WITH HONOR MISSIONARIES: They are all wonderful and awesome. They will be missed her in the ABM!
After the Temple we went back to the Mission Home and had lunch brought in by our wonderful Office Staff. Then it was weighing bags,(throwing out what they didn’t want to make sure the bags were within the weight limit), Interviews with President, learning their options on schooling and other things they need to know when going home. We enjoyed a nice dinner prepared by Sister Hazel, then the highlight of hearing them bear their testimonies, final hugs and off to bed for a restless night.
Next Morning getting them off to the Airport: Watch the slide show of them all. This took most of the day on Tuesday! 3 different trips to the airport. Love them all and will miss them.
Bright and early the next morning we were back at the airport picking up the new arriving missionaries. This time 9 Elders and 6 Sisters. Oh, how we love each one of them already!
They are all so excited to start working with their trainers. They will be so awesome. A wonderful group of GOLDENS!! A Wonderful week. We are off to Mt. Isa in the morning. Yea for the ABM! We love and miss you all! The church is true and so are you:)
